About me
Daniel Keller, who goes by Danny, is a physical therapist who cares for patients with orthopedic injuries, including athletes. He treats all types of musculoskeletal conditions, ranging from generalized joint pain to sports injuries.
Keller is one of the therapists in UCSF's specialized clinic and program for patients who have undergone limb amputation. He works with specialists in orthopedic oncology and prosthetics to care for amputees having difficulty with rehab or daily activities following amputation surgery. This team-based approach aims to help amputees improve function by employing a range of methods, such as changing current prosthetic devices, adjusting rehab regimens and osseointegration, a procedure that connects the patient's bone to the prosthetic limb.
Keller has been involved in numerous research projects. He contributed to the development of exercise programs for NASA astronauts with low back pain as well as a study on the effects of cupping (an ancient Chinese treatment that uses negative pressure) on the body. He continues to pursue research on patient care in orthopedics and sports medicine.
Keller earned his doctor of physical therapy degree in the joint program of UCSF and San Francisco State University. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, through which he is certified as an orthopedic clinical specialist.
Outside of work, Keller enjoys traveling; spending time with his family; and rooting for his favorite Bay Area sports teams, the 49ers, Warriors and Giants.
